Interim CEO

David is our interim Chief Executive. Having started as a volunteer with Venture Scotland, he also served as a trustee before the opportunity came to turn his hobby into his job! David ensures the smooth running of Venture Scotland while focusing on making sure staff, volunteers, young people, resources and funding all come together in the same place at the same time. David is a keen rock climber and mountaineer.

Anda Griveteanu

Head of Administration and Finance

Anda is our Head of Administration and Finance and has been with the team since 2015, she is a bright and approachable individual who has several years of professional experience in working within busy office environments in the service industry. At VS she deals with all the administrative functions including finance, facilities management, HR and IT.

Jerome Kyndt

Practice Development Manager

Jerome is our longest serving member of staff having joined VS in 2007. Initially employed as an Outdoor Youth Worker, Jerome has also been Team Leader and Acting Programme Manager at VS. In 2017 he began a new challenge taking on the role of Practice Development Manager.

Claire Pomphrey

Corporate + Events

Claire joined Venture Scotland as one of our fundraisers in August 2018. She has worked in fundraising for over five years for charities such as Maggies, Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland and CLIC Sargent, focussing on their corporate, community and events programmes. She specialises in exciting corporate partnerships and outdoor adrenaline events and is really looking forward to introducing these programmes to the Venture Scotland portfolio!

Tricia Edington

Fundraising + Communications

Tricia joined Venture Scotland as one of our fundraisers in August 2018. She previously worked in the Corporate Communications department at a Scottish-based co-operative for 15 years and managed their membership and community engagement as well as their charity of the year partnerships. She is a city lass who is learning to love the outdoors in all weathers so Venture Scotland is a great fit!

Elena is our Admin and Fundraising assistant based in our Glasgow office. Although Elena has less than a year’s experience in administration, she has quickly learned the ropes and is determined to succeed. Elena provides our Glasgow team with IT, administrative, financial and secretarial support, whilst supporting both teams by fundraising.

George McConnachie

Glasgow Programme Manager

George joined Venture Scotland in February 2018 as Manager for our Glasgow programme. With over 10 years experience in the charitable sector in Scotland, George has previously worked for a mental health charity, managed a development trust on the Isle of Coll and provided business consultancy to social enterprises across Scotland. He is passionate about the outdoors and his most treasured experience was hiking across Spain to complete the Camino de Santiago.

Rob Branter

Glasgow Team Leader

Rob has over 30 years’ experience in a variety of disciplines, including mountaineering, wilderness expeditions and gorge walking.  His passion for the outdoors has taken him to many locations across the world including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Thailand and many more.  Robs initial contact with Venture Scotland was as a volunteer, offering his experience as a Mountain Leader for several years before he was employed as our Glasgow Team Leader.

Chris McGeown

outdoor youth worker

Chris returned to Venture Scotland in 2017 as an Outdoor Youth Worker having previously worked with us from 2013 – 2016. In-between he worked for the environmental charity The John Muir Trust, but he missed working with Young People and working outside in the great Scottish weather. Chris’s latest passion is road cycling. Usually he can be spotted very early on a Sunday morning with a couple of friends cycling the hills surrounding Glasgow, wondering why he is not in bed like most normal folk.

Outdoor youth worker

Joanne is one of our Outdoor Youth Workers for the Glasgow team. Joanne has worked with the public all of her life, as a personal trainer and also managing coffee shops. She felt there was something missing in her line of work and started volunteering with Venture Scotland in 2010.  Joanne has completed an Honours Degree in Community Development last year. You are most likely to find Joanne running some marathon or jumping out a plane raising money for a good cause.

Noush Duffy

Outdoor Youth Worker

Anouska joined the team at the end of 2016 as one of our Outdoor Youth Workers, after previous experience in Outdoor Education. Having worked in the Police service for 10 years she has a passion for supporting the community, and encouraging them to get outdoors and enjoy the adventures to be had. Anouska can often be found exploring new adventures and activities, she has a particular fondness for bushcraft (aka Noushcraft), hillwalking and stand-up paddleboarding.

Sarah Powell

Outdoor youth worker

Sarah has joined us in April 2017 after five years freelancing in the outdoor education, youth development and adventure tourism industries. She is extremely passionate about the impact spending time outdoors has on mental health. She loves working alongside young people, helping them discover hidden talents, self-belief and confidence. Sarah can mostly be found floating about in boats or sliding around on snow, accompanied by lots of laughter.

In July 2017 we were delighted to welcome Mo Samson as an Outdoor Youth Worker in the Edinburgh delivery team. Mo joins us following a career break from outdoor instructing while she ran her family farm, growing the business to include a farm shop and café. Mo’s passions include paddling and climbing so she couldn’t resist the opportunity to get back to the outdoors and adventure!

Morven started as an Admin Assistant for Edinburgh Programme team in November  Morven has worked  in childcare within schools and nurseries. Working at Venture Scotland is great because I get to meet new people and work with a really nice team. I like doing office work and being able to manage things.
