Garfield Weston Foundation donate £25,000 to support young people in Edinburgh
Venture Scotland are delighted to have received a generous donation of £25,000 from the Garfield Weston Foundation, a family-founded, grant-making trust which has been supporting charities across the UK for over 50 years. From small community groups to large national institutions, the Foundation aim is to support organisations that have effective solutions to helping those most in need. They support a broad range of organisations and activities that share a commitment to making a positive impact to the lives of the communities in which they work, and that are driven by a desire to achieve excellence.
This generous donation will be put towards the core costs of our Edinburgh-based team during the next 12 months and will help us achieve our target of delivering a programme of taster activities for 60 young people, of whom 40 will progress onto our 12-month Journey programme. At Venture Scotland we work with some of Scotland’s most disadvantaged young people who face complex and difficult problems. This funding will help us to build their confidence and skills and empower each individual to make positive and lasting changes in their lives and play a positive role in their communities.
