To Infinity and Beyond!
As many of you will have seen in our previous newsletters, on social media, and in a recent BBC news article, we’ve been working in partnership with People Know How for the duration of lockdown to deliver computers to those cut off by Covid-19. Digital exclusion has been an issue for many people for years and only grows the more our technology develops. The effects of this, like social isolation or difficulty finding employment among many other things, have only been exacerbated by the Covid-19 lockdown, and more than ever our society has been dependent on digital devices to keep us connected.
Through our partnership with People Know How we’ve so far delivered almost 500 computers, tablets and laptops to those affected by digital exclusion since the start of the lockdown, with another 200 more people signed up to receive a device. This is all thanks to the brilliant work done at People Know How, and of course to our amazing volunteers who have stepped up to deliver devices week in and week out since the project began.
If you’d like to get involved with the project, either as a volunteer driver or by donating any old computers or devices you have lying around, then get in touch with Daniel, our Volunteer Coordinator, by emailing daniel.johnstone@venturescotland.org.uk
