Fundraiser Q&A!

Today, we’re catching up with one of our amazing fundraisers Stefan Mullan! Stefan is cycling from London to Paris this September to help raise money for VS! πŸš΅πŸ’‚πŸΌπŸ—Ό

Not only is he busy training and raising money for his fundraiser, he’s also organised a raffle night with music and entertainment on the 22nd of July in Aberdeen (keep reading for more info!) to raise money for VS! We thought we’d get to know Stefan a bit better and find out how he’s getting on training, why he chose to fundraise for VS and what makes him tick! Without further ado…

My name is Stefan Mullan. I currently live in Aberdeen with my wife and two beautiful children. I work for the National Skills Agency (Skills Development Scotland) and I have taken part in many voluntary opportunities over the years such as sky diving, travelling to Africa, mud runs, charity stands. Many years ago I was also on BBC radio for a charity success story for Bowel Cancer UK.

I love to give back and try help as many people as I can along the way. I decided to fundraise for Venture Scotland because I work with young people all across the North East of Scotland and being able to support them on their own journey is something I am proud of. I have had many setbacks and challenges in my own life that I have overcome and there have been many key people along the way supporting me.

So far training for my fundraiser has been tough, I have done damage to my MCL in my knee and had a few niggly injuries but the key is to keep moving forward and tailor my training to how my body is responding

I’m looking forward to the fundraiser because I have pulled together a very good night with live music, many raffle prizes and hopefully raise a good bit of money as well. I am looking forward to the finish line haha after cycling from London to Paris… Standing under the Eiffel Tower having cycled over 400miles in 4 days is a challenge I am excited for. Most importantly I want to enjoy every mile!

I love being amongst nature and getting outdoors as it is a vital tool for me to keep my mental wellbeing in check but also I believe nothing lifts the spirit more than mother nature herself!
