Empower Yourself

Programme Summary

You’ve challenged yourself and discovered yourself, it’s now time to “Empower Yourself”. In this stage, you’ll spend 12 weeks taking all the invaluable skills and insights you’ve learnt and embedding them into your life – this stage is more than just acquiring knowledge; it’s about empowering you to create meaningful change and converting intention into action. We’ll create well-being techniques to support your mental health and how to cope with life’s ups and downs, and we’ll focus on setting goals and planning out how you can achieve them. All before, hosting your very own awards night!

Empower Structure

WEEKS 1 – 8

Over the next 8 weeks, we’ll meet 2 days a week – one day will consist of an afternoon session for our ‘well-being day’ and the next day will be a full activity day.

WELLBEING DAYS

Throughout this stage, we’ll explore different topics designed to improve your overall well-being and quality of life. Each ‘well-being day’ will cover various aspects of well-being, including sleep, nutrition, time spent outdoors in nature, mindfulness practices, fostering connections with others, and embracing opportunities for learning something new. Each session will also include setting a micro goal for the week, challenging you to start embedding your coping skills in your life outside Venture Scotland

From understanding the importance of restful sleep to nourishing your body with wholesome foods, from finding your place in nature to gaining mindfulness techniques, we aim to empower you to thrive in every aspect of your life, just now and beyond Venture Scotland.

ACTIVITY DAYS

The second day of each week will be an activity day and a chance to continue stepping outside your comfort zone and developing your skills.  These sessions will take place more locally and we’ll use public transport where possible to show how you can access amazing outdoor spaces yourself and will be a mix of:

  • Hill walking
  • Orienteering
  • Rock Climbing
  • Canoeing
  • Kayaking
  • Raft Building
  • Stand Up Paddle boarding
  • Weaselling
  • Gorge Walking
WEEK 9

It’s now time to head back to our bothy in Glen Etive for a final Venture Scotland adventure! Over 4 days, you’ll have the space and opportunity to practice your well-being techniques, set goals and prepare for your awards night. We’ll dive into speech writing, awards planning, and honing our communication skills amongst bothy games, shared meals, and reflections around the fire.

WEEKS 10-12

The final two weeks of this stage will focus on planning for your awards night. From invites to speeches to booking venues, you’ll lead on the plans, highlighting your decision-making and leadership skills.

Then prepare to take centre stage as you co-host your very own awards night, a momentous occasion to celebrate your accomplishments. You’ll share this special moment with your friends, family, peers, volunteers, staff, and all those who are special to you. It’s an unforgettable occasion to share your success and inspire others with your remarkable journey!
