Andy has been volunteering with Venture Scotland for over 20 years and blames the organisation for transitioning him from being a bloke behind a desk who could only communicate with computers into an expedition leader who could relate to real people, a quality recognised by some large financial companies around Edinburgh who engaged him to assess risks on their systems as a test manager. He has worked with groups in many mountainous areas of the world, including Szechuan, Borneo, Chile and the Himalayas. His own adventures have taken him up mountains on foot, using ropes and sometimes on skis in Europe, the Canadian Rockies and Arctic Scandinavia. He still pogos to punk rock, and follows local bands.
