Behind the Scenes at Venture Scotland: Navigating Challenges and Innovating for the Future

Things are tough for everyone now, and charities are no different. Many of the funders that we have worked with for years are struggling to keep up with demand after the pandemic and as we go through the cost-of-living crisis.

This led to us working to diversify where we get our funding from. Just over a year ago, we welcomed Katie to the VS team to work on Corporate Fundraising –  encouraging businesses to support our work. We’ve also been working to encourage more supporters who love our work to give a monthly gift – if they can. This kind of long-term, reliable donation makes a HUGE difference each month as it enables us to plan further into the future and know that we have the backing of our incredible monthly supporters. (If this sounds of interest, you can set your monthly donation up here by clicking on the donate button and selecting ‘monthly’).

The newest way that we’re working to secure new funding is by offering the amazing work that our Delivery Team can do, at a cost, to businesses, delivering incredible teambuilding or wellbeing days to their new apprentices, managers, or teams that have recently merged.

Every company who works with us in this way will directly contribute to another young person experiencing the transformative impact of our programme.

Enhancing Corporate Wellbeing

In today’s fast-paced corporate world, employee wellbeing is not just a buzzword – it’s a critical factor for success. Research from Oxford University shows that the most effective way to improve employee wellbeing is by engaging them in tasks with a shared purpose and building a sense of belonging.

Our Expertise

With over 35 years of experience in fostering connections among vulnerable young people, our person-centred programme helps young people develop their skills and find hope for their future. It is designed to address the unique challenges faced by these individuals, providing them with the tools and support they need to overcome adversity and build a brighter future, and we have seen incredible transformations over the last three decades.

Our expertise lies in creating a nurturing environment where young people can thrive. Through a combination of outdoor activities, personal development workshops, and one-on-one mentoring, we help participants build confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose. Our approach is holistic, addressing not just the immediate needs of young people, but also their long-term personal and professional development – and we know this approach works beyond young people.

Extending to the Corporate World

“Fantastic fun fun-filled day that catered for the whole staff team. Very engaging, challenging and packed with a variety of activities that we could all be part of.” – Lorena Little, Business Director of Youthlink Scotland

We have successfully offered team wellbeing and building days to other charities and our partners. This year, we are expanding our services to businesses and corporate teams. By choosing us for team experience days, businesses not only invest in their own teams but also support the young people on our programmes.

The Power of Nature

Our Corporate Wellbeing offer leverages the healing and invigorating power of the outdoors to foster a healthier and more engaged workforce. Teams can step out of their usual context and immerse themselves in nature, which helps them reconnect and build stronger relationships.

Building Stronger Teams

According to Oxford University research, bringing colleagues together outside of their daily roles and giving them a shared purpose and sense of belonging significantly improves employee well-being. Our programme emphasises collaborative activities that strengthen team dynamics. Through challenges requiring teamwork and communication, employees learn to trust and rely on one another, fostering camaraderie and enhancing problem-solving skills.

Customised Experiences

Understanding that each organisation is unique, we offer programme options tailored to specific corporate needs and goals. Whether it’s an afternoon of team-building games, a one-day activity, or a series of workshops and activities over several weeks, the programme can be adapted to fit your company’s schedule and objectives.
