Covid Project 500th Computer Delivery

The 500th device has been delivered as part of the People Know How / Venture Scotland Computer Delivery Project to end digital exclusion. To celebrate this achievement, Ben Macpherson MSP was invited to make this special delivery.

Digital Exclusion

People Know How and Venture Scotland began the Computer Delivery Project when lockdown began, collecting donated devices, refurbishing donated devices and delivering them to people in Edinburgh and East Lothian experiencing digital exclusion. The project grew quickly, demonstrating the effect that lockdown has had in revealing the prevalence of digital exclusion in our local communities.

Thanks to donations and the support of some incredible volunteers, 500 devices have been delivered, and the partnership is on track to deliver 1,000 by the end of the year. To mark this special occasion, Ben Macpherson MSP for Edinburgh Northern & Leith, was invited to make the 500th computer delivery to one of his constituents.

The 500th Delivery

Ben Macpherson MSP delivered the refurbished laptop and keyboard to Mark, our 500th recipient, in Leith. With the parcel safely in hand, Mark and Ben discussed whatlife had been like under lockdown in this constituency, including finding access to hot meals in the local area. Mark also mentioned he was excited to open his new device to play games and most importantly to video call friends and family abroad.

It’s remarkable that People Know How have delivered 500 devices and it’s great to see the work actively reaching people in the community. I’m very grateful to everyone involved for all they’ve done to help and empower so many people in these challenging times.Ben Macpherson MSP
