Venture Scotland helps young people in Scotland, who want to make positive changes in their lives to transform, through a unique, 4-stage, progressive, long term, outdoor-based personal development programme. We are focused on sustainably growing our impact and anticipate a growing need for our programmes as mental health needs among young people are increasingly unmet elsewhere.
We are seeking one Trustee from our volunteer community who is interested in being a voice on the board for our volunteers and who is interested in helping to shape the future of our charity.
While our primary motivation is recruiting a member of our active volunteer community, any of the following skills/experiences would be particularly welcome to supplement the skills and experiences of our existing board members.
- Lived experience of the issues our service users encounter
- Work or volunteer experience with young people
- Diversified fundraising strategy
- Business development in a national or local government context
- Executive or board experience in a youth work organisation
- Executive or board experience in an outdoor education organisation
- Branding and marketing
- Human resources management

The Board of Trustees meets every two months (currently via zoom but when permitted in Edinburgh and, occasionally, Glasgow), Trustees are also expected to participate in occasional ad-hoc meetings, the AGM, young people’s awards nights, annual volunteer development weekend and may be invited to join a Board sub-committee. Trustees are also expected to advocate for Venture Scotland’s benefit among their personal and professional connections and are appointed to the board for an initial term of 3 years.
