Help transform young lives in the outdoors!
We’re looking for people who are interested in helping to determine the future direction of our charity. Diversity is a core value at Venture Scotland but it’s not reflected among our Board of Trustees (we’re mostly white, middle-aged, middle-class women) so we are seeking up to three people who will bring new perspectives, skills and experiences to our discussions and decisions.
You might not think of yourself as a Trustee or you might think that since you’ve never been a Trustee before that you don’t have the skills or experience to join our Board. Don’t let that stop you from applying. We’ll provide training and mentoring you’ll need as a first-time Trustee. What’s important is that you bring a different voice to the Board, that you’re willing to challenge and to learn; that you’re committed to helping young people improve their lives and you share our values of Respect, Trust, Environment, Diversity, Inclusion and Personal Development.
Venture Scotland supports vulnerable young people (aged 16 – 30) in Scotland to make lasting, positive change. Our unique, 4-stage, progressive, long term, outdoor, personal development programme delivers measurable change with young people reporting increased emotional and mental health, increased confidence, improved ability to maintain relationships and less isolation. Our rigorous evaluation methods evidence our programme effectiveness and we have ambitious goals to make them available to a growing number of young people directly and working with partners.
We know that sustainable growth is critical, so our Board of Trustees is active and engaged, supporting the CEO and staff in ensuring good governance and accountability of the organisation.
Our team works hard, and we expect a lot, but we also make sure there’s something in it for our Trustees. Personal Development is a core value at every level of our organisation, so we offer training and development opportunities to enable our Trustees to achieve personal and career growth in the role.
